The Future of Public Sector Transformation

I recently had the privilege of joining a thought-provoking panel hosted by Deloitte at the AWS Canada Public Sector Symposium in Ottawa, where we explored the future of digital transformation in government. It was an engaging and forward-looking discussion with esteemed colleagues Tanu Mohan, Giselle D’Paiva, and Joe Mariani — all of us bringing diverse perspectives on how digital innovation can better serve Canadians.

Our conversation focused on what it truly takes to deliver meaningful change in the public sector: strong and courageous leadership, cross-sector collaboration, and always keeping citizens at the heart of every decision. We explored how governments can harness emerging technologies — from cloud computing to digital ID — to modernize service delivery while ensuring security, trust, and accessibility. As someone who continues to advise public institutions and executive teams on leading through disruption, I know that transformation doesn’t happen by chance — it takes vision, intention, and execution.

The key takeaway? The future of public service is digital, and the time to build that future is now. With the right strategy and a human-centered approach, we can create public systems that are as innovative as they are inclusive. Yes — Canada can have (nice) digital things! 🇨🇦
