On December 1, 2025, I had the opportunity to serve as a featured panelist at the FinTech Symposium hosted by the Telfer School of Management—an event designed to bridge academic learning with the rapidly evolving world of financial technology. The symposium brought together students, faculty, and industry leaders to explore the transformational impact of AI, automation, and emerging digital capabilities on the financial sector.
During the industry panel, I joined Maxime Beaulieu from Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada and Alexandre Labreche, CEO and Co-Founder of Pluvo, for a forward-looking discussion on the future of finance. Together, we examined how technology is reshaping financial systems, redefining risk, and creating new expectations for transparency, agility, and digital trust.
My contribution focused on the intersection of technology, leadership, and public-sector transformation—drawing on my experience as a former Assistant Deputy Minister and as President of my advisory firm. I emphasized the importance of responsible AI adoption, resilient digital foundations, and the need for future leaders to manage both human and machine intelligence in an increasingly automated financial landscape.
What made the symposium exceptional was the level of curiosity and engagement from postgraduate finance students. Their questions reflected not only the pace of change in the sector but the growing demand for leaders who can navigate complexity, embrace innovation, and apply digital tools with purpose.
It was a privilege to contribute to this sold-out event and to help shape the next generation of FinTech leaders.
