Navigating the Future of Tech Leadership

Reflections from the NextGen Tech Executive Leadership Academy

I was honoured to be invited as a CIO and Digital Thought Leader to participate in Deloitte’s NextGen Tech Executive Leadership Academy — a dynamic three-day program that brought together CIOs and senior executives from across the public, private, and non-profit sectors. It was an insightful and energizing experience, surrounded by leaders who are shaping the future of technology and governance in Canada and beyond.

Throughout the Academy, we engaged in deep conversations on emerging trends, leadership practices, and the strategic shifts required in today’s digital age. From the accelerating role of AI and automation to the critical importance of ethical frameworks and responsible tech, one thing was clear: the future belongs to those who lead with both vision and values. We explored pressing issues like cybersecurity as an enterprise-wide concern, the evolution of hybrid and multi-cloud strategies, and the foundational role of talent, culture, and adaptability in building resilient tech organizations. As someone who continues to advise CIOs and executive teams on digital transformation, I found these dialogues both validating and forward-looking.

Kudos to Dalibor Petrovic, Ashish Aswath, and the entire Deloitte team for curating such a high-impact experience. Events like this reaffirm the importance of continuous learning, bold leadership, and building strong cross-sector networks to move the digital agenda forward.
